The SPR-2 instrument sets a new standard for surface plasmon resonance based analytical biosensors.
This simple to use, fully automated, high performance system has all the technical features needed to run the full range of real-time, label-free analyses.
Featuringmicrofluidic sample delivery, 'dock-n-go' sensors, and icon driven control software, the SPR-2 makes real-time, label-free analysis fast, simple, and highly accurate for both new and experienced researchers.
Sample Delivery Using Sierra Sensors Hydrodynamic Isolation™ (HI) technology, ultra discrete microliter volumes of sample are delivered to the sensor surfaces during analysis. This continuous flow sample delivery technique ensures full and accurate kinetic rate analysis for even the most transient interactions.
Microfluidics Research in the field of biosensors has demonstrated clearly that the performance and usefulness of any real-time, label-free detection technique is directly dependent on how the samples are delivered to the detection sensor.
Apart from the detection method, no other technology associated with biosensors has as large of an impact on the quality and scope of data produced, or the range of applications to which the technology can be applied.
Sierra Sensors' unique microfluidic sample delivery technology, Hydrodynamic Isolation, can deliver highly discrete microliter volumes of sample to any sensor location on an open array under conditions of continuous flow. Integration of this proprietary fluid delivery technology with real-time, label-free detection results in a number of critical benefits to the researcher. Automation is an obvious benefit to researchers as it allows them to multitask. But with label-free analysis that is just the beginning of the benefits automation provides.
In biosensor analysis, by ensuring the exact same process is followed when testing samples not only is data quality improved, but significant time is also saved during data analysis.
To generate the most accurate and useful data, label-free analysis often requires that a series of samples be tested, and the resulting data analyzed as a group. Thus even minor differences in the individual testing procedures can make 'group analysis' difficult or impossible. Salvaging useful information from non-uniform data sets often requires extensive and laborious manual manipulations of the data, slowing the testing process and wasting resources.
The SPR-2 is fully automated and able to process dozens of samples in a single unattended run. Sample analysis can either be fully automated, or injections can be run on demand using batch methods.
Top-of-the-line microfluidic pumps and automated valves precisely control the delivery of all samples, buffers, and reagent solutions to the sensor surfaces, ensuring all samples are tested using the exact same procedure.
Apart from loading the sample rack and beginning an injection sequence or an automated method, operator influence can be completely removed from the testing process.
System Integration The SPR-2 seamlessly integrates high performance label-free analysis into a single, small foot print, bench top instrument. The fully automated integration of these different technical components ensures that generating accurate and useful label-free data with the SPR-2 is fast and simple.
